Privacy policy

Escape the Link is a Shopify app that moves shoppers from social media in-app browsers (Instagram, Facebook, TikTok…) to their regular browser, and shows merchants aggregated results. This page explains what data it uses.

Merchants

When you install the app, Shopify shares your store's domain and an access token limited to the permissions you approve. We use them only to run the app. Your settings are stored in your Shopify store.

Shoppers

The app does not collect names, email addresses, payment details or other information that identifies a shopper. It detects in-app browsers in the shopper's browser. When a shopper is moved, it tags the visit and the cart with the social media app they came from, using cookies and a cart attribute, only where the shopper's privacy choices allow analytics. A Shopify web pixel reports anonymous events (visits, orders, order totals) to our server, which stores daily totals per store.

Sharing

We don't sell or share data. It is processed by Shopify and by the hosting providers that run our server.

Retention

Data is kept while the app is installed and deleted when Shopify asks us to after you uninstall it.
